So I made myself a little zippered bag. Seems about the right size for an overnight toiletry bag.

This project was also a great excuse to use the amazing gift I got over the weekend. I never knew how much I needed one of those clear measuring quilt things until my aunt sent one home with my Mom for me. It is THE BEST.

When I wasn’t sewing, we were all enjoying the lovely weekend here in Maine. And no one enjoyed the weekend more than a certain yellow and black lab. While everyone “did homework” on the lawn, the puppies ran and rolled and chased the cat until the sun went down.

Maybe the exclamation point was too much, I’m spending most of the break working and studying (apart from a very fun weekend in Boston). On the way home from said weekend, I couldn’t resist the urge to stop at A.C. Moore and buy some fabric paint. I was inspired by this post to try my hand at some fabric paint fun. Because I needed something to paint on, I decided I probably needed a little zippered bag. Someone has to test out my work right?

I was going for a lupin there, one of Maine’s lovely flowers. Maybe next time it will be actually recognizable as a lupin. And since I mixed up too much paint, I made some fabric labels. They’re a little too big to be sewed on to bags or clutches, but I think they’ll make some cute tags.
This little project was a great break from the new project that will be cramping my style: Coast Guard Exams. Starting in April I’ll be taking my 200 ton mate license exam. And now that I’m working on chart work, this is what my room looks like:
